These unique ancient stones are genuine petrified wood fossils. Found all over the world, the most famous area of petrified wood deposits is located in northeast Arizona, at the Petrified Forest National Park.
During the late triassic period (about 230 million years ago) tectonic movement and volcanic erruputions shifted the Arizona landscape, toppling the ancient forest of the region. Covered over layers of volcanic ash and accumulated rain water, fallen trees were turned to stone through petrification, a process that replaces organic matter with sediment and minerals over millions of years.
These petrified wood pieces are perfect to display on any office desk or bookshelf, and will also make great, unique gifts.
Measure between 1"-1.75" tall. Each wood fossil is natural and unique.
Sold assorted, fossil chosen at random. Pricing is for ONE stone wood.
