These stunning ring boxes are made from genuine fossilized Orthoceras shells, carved from ancient sedimentary stone.
 
Orthoceras are the ancient ancestor of the modern day squid. Most commonly traced back to the Silurian time period (about 400 million years ago) when the ancient oceans were teeming with mollusk life forms, now extinct. Once a living organism,  these orthoceras were turned to stone through petrification, a process that replaces organic matter into sediment and minerals over millions of years. 
 
These fossil ring boxes are perfect to display on any office desk, bookshelf or vanity and will also make a great gift.
 
Measures approximately 2" wide and 1.5" tall. Picture representative, each is natural and unique.
