Southwest Table Runners - Not Just For Tables
Beautiful southwest table runners are no longer just for throwing over a dining table, although they are great for that! Designers and home owners alike are becoming much more bold in their ideas of rustic home decor. More than just a table covering, runners are showing up all around the house. As you know, the most fabulous are the hand woven wool table runners that express the unique personality of the weaver and designer alike. Their rich color and texture work wonders to bring any room to life. Of course, you always want to find patterns and colors that work with your room, but beyond that, the sky is the limit. Yes, you can use them on every table in the house but for so much more too. Make a special statement in every area of your home with both narrow table runners and wide runners as well. How about a hand woven table runner under the TV in the living room or family room?
You can also add dramatic color to a shelf or wall unit. Or, try fanning a table runner or two across a coffee table for a unique design. Use one for a floor runner in front of the couch or across the back of your sofa to make a great emphasis. In the kitchen there are a lot of opportunities to use table runners. In breakfast nooks, across a counter top or in front of bar stools instead of placemats. Then, put one over the frig, to add color and draw that area into the room's decor. In larger kitchens, that have a desk area or small work table, runners are perfect. And, don't forget that you can also hang them on the wall vertically beside the back door or fold it in half and attach it to the wall as a unique piece of southwestern wall art. In the family room or in a young person's room you might like to hang a table runner on the door or use it as a backdrop for a display of family pictures. Use them rolled as well for rustic bookends on book shelves.
You can also line rustic furniture or trophy cases. Just use your imagination and you will be surprised how many great ideas you will have, and how great they will look. If you are like most people you are always on the lookout for a unique look for your bath room or bedroom. Well, a table runner will take care of that in short order. Add rustic style by simply hanging on over the towel rack or use a wooden kiva ladder with a hanging runner as a decorating accessory in either room. A narrow runner is just right for across the toilet tank and folded over a dresser is a wonderful look. Throw one across the foot of the bed for western or southwest style and use them on the floor beside the bed in rooms where there isn't that much space between the bed and the wall. You will love what your bed and bath look like. However you decide to use primitive table runners, the Native American patterns and designs will add rustic charm to any space. Your friends and family will think you hired a professional designer and you will love the warm, friendly atmosphere that southwest table runners will create.
