This stunning jewelry box is made from genuine fossilized Orthoceras shell, carved from ancient sedimentary stone.
Orthoceras are the ancient ancestor of the modern day squid. Most commonly traced back to the Silurian time period (about 400 million years ago) when the ancient oceans were teeming with mollusk life forms, now extinct. Once a living organism, these orthoceras were turned to stone through petrification, a process that replaces organic matter into sediment and minerals over millions of years.
This fossil jewelry box is perfect to display on any office desk, bookshelf or vanity and will also make a great gift.
