This is a beautiful southwestern Day of the Dead skull. Handcrafted in Mexico, this skull is hand painted ceramic, and one of the favorites among Day of the Dead memorabilia.
Very popular in the southwestern United States, this classic painted skull reflects a rich culture begun by the ancient Aztecs.
Each year on November 2nd, Mexican families celebrate their dead relatives by visiting their graves with colorful decorations, food and drink. Skulls are used as traditional decorations to celebrate the day; a custom that began with the Aztecs using real skulls.
Today, they are uniquely made of hand painted pottery which is also used for southwest decor.
