This is a beautiful southwestern Day of the Dead pottery skull. Handcrafted in Mexico, these skulls are hand painted ceramic, one of the favorites among day of the dead memorabilia.
Each year on November 2nd, families thorghout Mexico and the American southwest celebrate their passed loved ones, by visiting their graves with colorful decorations, food and drink.
Skulls are used as traditional decorations to celebrate the day, a custom that began with the Aztecs using real skulls. Today, they are beautiful hand painted pottery art also used for southwest decor.
