Description
This mini 4" diameter Native American style hoop drum is handcrafted by the famous Tarahumara Indians. This Native made drum is popular for art and craft projects, as ornaments and as a canvas for western cowboy and indian art. This drum can be played but doesn't have the deep sound of a larger drum and is recommended for rustic decor.
The Tarahumara Indians are said to be North Americas most primitive people, inhabiting caves and cliff dwellings. Native American drums are a very important part in their culture. Large rawhide drums are used during their festivals as a call to gather the people and as an integral part of their ceremony.
This drum was crafted with a piece of native yellow pine bent into the shape of the drum. Rawhide is stretched over the sides of the drum ring. Photo is representative.
Measures approximately 4". A simple rustic drum beater from the maker is included.
