This is an authentic southwest Native American horse hair pottery vase made by hand with real clay and hand etched with traditional patterns and colors of the Navajo Indians. Rainbow pottery as it is known by the Navajo is desired by collectors around the world.
The art of making etched horse hair pottery is a traditional skill passed down from each generation. Painted and etched by hand before firing, each piece is unique with both color and texture.
The crowning feature of this style is the use of real horse hair added during the firing process. The potter adds horsehair to the piece at just the right moment to cause the air to singe the pottery causing a permanent pattern to be burned int o the clay yielding a truly one-of-a-kind piece of American Indian pottery.
This is a perfect rustic home accent for western style or southwest decor as well as collecting.
