Description

A rustic rawhide "Bell" lamp Shade 50% taller than a standard shade, perfect for rustic lamps that require a taller shade. 14" bottom, 6" top, 11" tall - for harp attachment. Rawhide rustic lamp shades are made by hand with old world craftsmanship.

This southwestern lamp shade laced with rawhide leather is a superior upscale lampshade, just right for your favorite western lamps or rustic lighting fixture. The translucent character of leather lamp shades made with rawhide allows a lamp to emanate from within the shade to create a natural atmosphere. There is no substitute for genuine (raw hide) rawhide lamp shades for southwestern lamps, antler lamps, wall sconces, chandeliers and home lighting if you need rustic lamp shades.

Our southwestern rawhide shades are fabulous for rustic lighting that compliment lodge style cottages, rustic chic homes and rustic furniture. Rawhide lamp shades are perfect on Indian drum desk lamps, Indian pottery table lamps, genuine antler lamps and wrought iron lamps. Rawhide lampshades are perfect for a log home or cabin as well as country, ranch or rustic decor. Stretched rawhide lamp shades are works of art that will make a dramatic affect on your room, southwest furnishings or western decor.

About Rawhide:

Sooner or later rawhide wears out. We recommend rawhide conditioner and an LCD bulb. Read our tips on rawhide lamp shade care.  To avoid splitting, heat/dryness has to be addressed. Rawhide is not tanned like leather. Rawhide lamp shades can last several years but it is "raw hide" constantly expanding and contracting with heat and humidity. When wet or humid, it loosens and when heated or dry it tightens. Heat will cause the hide to tighten until it finally tears. Watch out for high wattage bulbs for shade size, direct sunlight, placement near a heat duct, or not conditioning the hide frequently enough.  February seems to be the worst month for rawhide shade splitting because of the prolonged use of heat drying the rawhide. For these reasons, there is no guarantee on shade life so make sure you consider if rawhide is a good fit for your application.
